One Piece of Advice To Make Your Life As A Bride So Much Easier

From a former bride to a bride-to-be, I know how stressful the planning process can be. At first, it’s exciting. Getting to share all the details of your proposal with friends and family. Not to mention showing off that new shiny object on your ring finger and then celebrating your engagement with a big party full of all your favorite people with appetizers and desserts to make Thanksgiving look like child’s play. It’s all so perfect. From your first glance into the wedding planning scene, you think that your experience is going to be different from others you’ve heard.

Then reality sets in. Now, I’m not saying wedding planning isn’t fun or isn’t exciting or isn’t a time you’ll remember forever. I’m just saying that it’s work. Even if you have a wedding planner (you lucky duck!), you’re still responsible for making a lot of decisions. I swear, after planning my own wedding, I should have put a few new line items on my resume.

Bullet: detail oriented.

Bullet: multitasker.

Bullet: adept at managing 5 vendors at any one time.

Bullet: keeping calm and planning on.

Being a bride is a full-time job in itself, but you probably have a day job that requires your undivided attention too. So how do you manage it all? Compartmentalizing is key. But how?

With so many bridal vendors contacting you; wedding magazines sending their latest tips on wedding planning 101 and the newest Pantone color trending this year in bridal; pinterest boards galore - invitations, dresses, shoes, florals, decorations, bridesmaid fashion, hairstyles - pin this, pin that. Hair is already pulled out.

But this one tip can make your life as a bride so much easier.

Create a separate email address for all things wedding related. Genius, right? Now you can enter as many giveaways, subscribe to as many magazines, create as many new accounts, as you wish. Even give this email address to your bridesmaids, family and wedding vendors.

Finally, check this account on your time. I know, brides can get a little obsessive about wedding planning, but we’re all adults here and you know what’s right for you. Set your boundaries. It will make for a much more enjoyable planning experience.

After you’re done planning, you can trash the entire email account. Bye bye, see you later, adios.
